About The Ibadan Review
The Ibadan Review is a publication of literature, social innovation, science and research in Nigerian and African tertiary institutions. These may be excellent works and work in progress by students, lecturers and affiliates of Nigerian tertiary institutions. The goal is to attract the right support to excellent work in order to foster the right collaborations required for better contribution of academia to the society, as well as improve access to quality education in Nigerian and African tertiary institutions.

Our Focus Areas
Science and Research
We want to be the most important platform that shares research and scientific works carried out in Nigerian and African tertiary institutions . We will be happy to publish independent works carried out outside the tertiary institutions as well, if well researched. Works published on our channels must be written to make assimilation easier for public consumption. While it is not necessary to poorly water down technical works, if they will be published by The Ibadan Review, the submission must be written with the right level of clarity that makes it easy for people outside that field to understand what the author is trying to achieve or has achieved. We hope that when important researches and scientific works are completed in the universities, they are enthusiastically shared with us to share with the world.
Please check our Submissions Guidelines here.
Literature
We will publish works of art, especially written art, through an annual anthology and periodic online publications. The Ibadan Review Anthology will feature written work by students in universities. The anthology is to uphold the dynamism of thought and creativity, especially in reviewing society’s issues from different standpoints. We look to publish exceptional works without neglecting the randomness of genius in the most unexpected areas.
Social Innovation
We will publish works by students who are attempting to solve social problems whether independently or through their organizations. We will only profile works, rather than organizations doing the work, thus our focus is how such social problems are being solved, rather than who is solving them (of course, without intentionally leaving out the personalities behind such work). One of our goals is to run a yearly publication of people who are doing exceptional work in solving social problems, with special focus on the nature of their approaches and successes from such approaches.
The Ibadan Review was created in 2019 by Habeeb Kolade to throw more light on academic contributions to societal development in this region, as well as share exceptional works that may lead to important breakthroughs. This is by no means assuming that Nigerian universities have attained enviable heights in tertiary education, rather it is a way to share progress currently being made despite the system, in order to foster more collaborations and support that can lead to more progress in the system. Without such information in public domain, collaboration and support is more difficult. Aside from this, perhaps we can reduce the amount of research works by Nigerian students that end up in the dumps, unacknowledged, uninspired and unused.
The review is mainly run by university students, with inaugural team led by Waliyah Oladipo.
